Little droplets; drip, drip, drip, drumming onto your forehead. You don't need to smell the rusty tang of blood to know it's there. You snap your eyes open, because you know this dream, you have a long history together.

And there she is, your blonde-haired girl burning on the ceiling above your head. Except it isn't your girl this time, it's your Mom, with her new hair, and her hunter's boots, your conversation with Dean earlier echoing from somewhere deep and dark, somewhere where you hoped it would be forgotten.

Because hunters? They only have one future; they die bloody.

A/N: Wow, what an episode - I loved it!!! A great cast of characters, and interactions, and how wonderful was it to see Jody and Mary together? Plus those twins - I'd love to know more!!! There's been so many delightful fics already for this episode, but I just couldn't resist exploring Sam's reaction to seeing that guys (Randy?) blood drip onto Asa's dead body from where it was pinned to the ceiling, and to have his Mom right next to him. Surely they did that purposefully, because that's bound to hurt both Sam and Mary (maybe that's what brought them a little closer here, at least physically, with all that holding and hugging).

The blood dripping was so ominous! And I loved that in that scene, it was Sam and Mary who discovered Randy together--because as this drabble plays on, they're the two (live) people with the most connection to such a phenomenon. Positively eerie. And the way you further that here in Sam's nightmare--aah! I don't know what's going to happen to Mary, or where this season will take her, but for my sake (and Sam's!) I hope this is a dream foretells nothing. <3 Beautiful!

Thank you!!! It's very coincidental that the two people who have directly experienced both sides of this phenomenon then experience it as outsiders with Randy and Asa. But I love it, it feels very ominous and like you say, I don't know what they're trying to say, or what plans they have for Mary, but let's hope it's nothing like this.

It's always a joy to read your thoughtful comments. Thank you ❤️

Oh, yes! That must have been so awful for both of them. Well done!

Right?! I love the ominous feel of it too, that it was Sam and Mary who experienced this again but this time as outsiders.

I'm really happy you enjoyed it. Thank you for stoping by. Take care :)

I really REALLY love this, in the sense that it scares me witless, but I adore it.

Hehe, I know what you mean!!! It's a scary and horrible thought, but there's something wonderfully intriguing about it too. I'm so happy that you enjoyed the drabble. Thank you for stopping by. Take care :)

Yes this is such a good way to explore what the show can't - the inside of Sam's head. And having that demon tap into what must be one of Sam's deepest horrors, and Mary's most horrific memory (assuming she does remember dying) was actually a pretty genius move from the new writers!

It was hard hitting for Sam and Mary to experience that again, and I agree, a great move from the new writer. I loved it!

Thank you for stopping by :)

Oh yes, bravo. I thought at the time -- the dripping blood -- what a genuine moment of horror. Mary and Sam. With their history. The looks on both of their faces... that was just crying out for further exploration, so thank you!
And the twins were so intriguing. I want more of them too!

It was a horrifying moment for those specific characters, and it felt quite ominous too. I'm really happy you enjoyed the drabble.

And yes, those twins were wonderful - spin-off material, maybe?! Thank you for reading :)

I'm so glad you picked that moment to expand! Lots of creepy S1/Pilot throwbacks this year. (I'm still freaked out from the flickering light above the crib in 12x03. O.O) Anyway this is lovely. Thank you for sharing! :D

I loved it, especially as it involved both Sam and Mary. Yes, there has been quite a few season 1 throwbacks this season (and yes, great pick with 12.03, I might have missed that one!) Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Take care :)

Nicely packed punch, there.

Thank you! The body on the ceiling was so reminiscent of YED and what he did to Mary and Jess that I just couldn't help but draw comparisons. And the fact that it was Mary and Sam that found the body was surely not coincidental.

I'm really happy that you enjoyed it. Thank you :)
